1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Business Card Scanner ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Business Card Scanner is a web-based Progressive Web App (PWA) that:

• Scans business card images using your device's camera or photo gallery
• Extracts contact information using AI-powered optical character recognition (OCR)
• Allows you to save contacts to Google Contacts or download them as vCard (.vcf) files
• Operates primarily client-side in your web browser

3. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the Service only for lawful purposes
• Only scan business cards and documents that you have permission to scan and process
• Respect the privacy and intellectual property rights of others
• Not use the Service to scan sensitive documents (ID cards, passports, credit cards)
• Verify the accuracy of extracted information before saving contacts
• Comply with all applicable local, state, national, and international laws

4. Google Services Integration

4.1 Google Authentication

When you sign in with Google, you authorize us to access your Google Contacts for the purpose of saving scanned business card contacts. This access can be revoked at any time through your Google Account settings.

4.2 Google Gemini API

The Service uses Google's Gemini API for text extraction. By using the Service, you acknowledge that scanned images will be sent to Google's servers for processing. Google's terms and privacy policies apply to this processing.

5. Accuracy and Reliability

While we strive for accuracy in extracting contact information from business cards, the Service:

• Is not 100% accurate: OCR technology may misread or miss information
• Requires verification: You should always review extracted information before saving
• Depends on image quality: Results vary based on image clarity, lighting, and card design
• Is provided "as is": We make no warranties about the completeness or accuracy of results

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and original content, is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer the Service without permission.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Warranties that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
• Warranties regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of extracted data

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES RESULTING FROM:

• Your use or inability to use the Service
• Inaccurate or incomplete extraction of contact information
• Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
• Any third-party conduct or content on the Service
• Any interruption or cessation of the Service

9. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. Key points:

• We do not store your scanned images or extracted contacts on our servers
• Processing happens client-side in your browser
• Images are sent to Google Gemini API for OCR processing
• Google authentication tokens are stored in your browser's session storage

10. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services, including:

• Google Identity Services (authentication)
• Google Gemini API (OCR/text extraction)
• Google Contacts API (contact storage)

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third parties.

11. API Usage and Rate Limits

The Service relies on Google Gemini API, which has usage quotas and rate limits. If these limits are exceeded, the Service may temporarily be unable to process business cards. We are not liable for service interruptions due to API quota limitations.

12. User Content and Conduct

You must not:

• Scan documents containing illegal, harmful, or offensive content
• Violate any person's privacy or intellectual property rights
• Attempt to abuse, spam, or overload the Service
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code
• Use the Service in any way that could damage or impair it

13. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time.

14. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective when posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
